SP PROJECT 2008: I'M NOT LIKE... > For a change, I wanted to start a yearlong project that would allow me to explore creativity. I wanted to combine (creative, artistic) portraiture with storytelling. I also wanted to explore who I am - by not being myself. This is the result: a series of alter-ego selfportraits. Introducing: Ava. The next character will most likely be introduced in february. Flickr collection |

PROJECT: READING & REVIEWING IN 2008 > Part of currently reading, a project for 2008 meant to inspire in me the desire to read more and to reflect on what I have read. A series of selfportraits, featuring my green wall as a background, with reviews to boot. Fun fact regarding this project: author Paulo Coelho, known for The Alchemist and one of my favourite authors (I've read 5 novels), has commented on an R&R regarding his latest novel, The Witch of Portobello. Though I didn't think this was his best book (rated it 3/5) and I would have loved to have him find a positive review, I was honest instead and happy that Coelho responded. PROJECT: CURRENTLY READING > Currently reading: Miss Wyoming by Douglas Coupland. Wheras I usually kept a list of books I had read at a particular time, at some point (September 2006) I started a visual list of sorts by creating a series of self-portraits involving the glorious act of reading. PROJECT: MONSIEUR SOURIS > A visual story of a French mouse seeing the world and living the good life. The story originally began in 2001. My mom loved the mouse so much, she decided it would be a fun idea to let it accompany us during our 2001 trip to Spain - and to photograph it on 'its travels'. later, we brought it with us to our 2002 trip out to Florida. In 2007, i decided to honor my mom's idea by taking the mouse with me on hangouts, visits, daytrips and travels again. Okay. And it is sometimes at home with me. Flickr set |
