…ucked up. It’s very typical for The Netherlands (and countries in a similar climate, I’m sure) to have: sunshine, rain, sunshine, cloudiness, rain, sun, less sun, warm, cloudy, rain, hail (…), sun, cloudiness, sun… etc. Yes. Hail.

As I took that photo I got pelted by hail (my poor back!) but ah, I wanted a quick picture. Today’s weather beats yesterday’s, though: rain, rain and only rain, all day long. Gah. I’m ready for it to be full on sunny.
So, when the weather is too unreliable to be outdoors, what’s a girl to do? I finally had some photo ideas, so I worked on a few things today (will share later, promise!) and I caught up on some television shows during which I gave my nails a nice, different color:

Catrice 070 – Caught on the red carpet (two coats, and two coats of HEMA nail hardener as a base)
I couldn’t for the life of me “concentrate” while putting it on, I’m a shaky polisher most of the time – aren’t you glad I’m not a neurosurgeon? – but it was really bad today, the nail polish pretty much went all over my hands, haha. (I used photoshop to clone out some boo boo’s
)
Other than that it’s very easy to put on and the shade is lovely. The color is a deeper red and I really love that. Will use this one often!
The first week of 2012 is almost over. A few more photos (I’m trying to post daily, but three posts in one day like yesterday is a bit much, haha, so a collection-post for today, instead…):

January 5th. The weather’s been quite stormy the past week. Lots of wind and rain. Around sunset, the light outside turns a strange kind of orange. The water is rising high in the northern provinces (despite our precautions – necessary as most of this country is below sea level – sometimes the water still threatens us, sometimes still wins), but so far it seems to be going okay up there. As far as okay goes.

January 5th. We’ve decided to try new wines this year, and we started with Chile’s Arauco Carmenere 2010. It’s pretty good, a little sweeter than other wines

January 6th. Television evening yesterday, watching The Voice of Holland (a disappointing season, because it’s more of a popularity contest… but aren’t all singing competitions? That said, I’m rooting for Niels, but am also a fan of Chris). A glass of wine and a few Melba wholegrain crackers with tomato tapenade completed the evening. Mmmmm

Today. Time for another What’s in my bag? My dark yellow Alba bag (Sticks & Stones) is one of my favorite 2011 purchases. For the looongest time I’d been looking for a cute small handbag, preferably mustard or teal, and I stumbled upon a slightly brighter dark yellow coinpurse-inspired bag instead. Had to have it! It holds my deodorant (which I always carry with me, always), my iPhone 3Gs, my wallet, my two current favorite lipbalms and the keys to Lola’s heart (my car keys).
I’m settling into blogging, taking more photos and running a business. Generally I’m pretty stress free. I think it’s because I’ve been working for little to no pay for a while before this, and have been putting in the hours already. It will be different, putting in hours and actually getting a little more income as a result. It can only get better from now on
Today I’ve been taking care of some things, mostly working on an upcoming small business-related project which I’m very excited about. Tomorrow I’ll try for a self-portrait session (it would be awesome to try and do one once a week or so – but I’m NOT committing to a weekly project, I’m crap at those, haha..!) and I’ll also get cracking on my own layout of this blog right here, though I must say this temporary layout has been treating me well so far.
