And so it begins: planning our wedding

Over 3 weeks after my husband-to-be Mister Sweet Tooth popped the question, the wedding planning has officially begun. (Reader: the Sweet Tooth thing isn’t a joke. His last name is Dutch for Sweet Tooth, which means I’ll be Mrs. Sweet Tooth. Not that this bothers me. I’ll own that new name.)

I’ve begun looking at dresses. I’m contemplating what to do with my hair and nails. I’m considering getting my teeth whitened a couple of shades. I’m looking at shoes. SHOES. This is the most girly I’ve felt in… ever. (It kind of freaks me out. I think it freaks out the Mister a little, too.)

But I’m excited about the whole thing. Becoming a Mrs. (even though that makes me feel older) and planning how that will come about.

Now, I’m a bit of an artsy fartsy type of gal, and although I like simple (e.g. keep it relatively low key), I do completely appreciate the idea of a styled wedding. Working with themes, colors… I haven’t yet figured out entirely what I would like (Mister Sweet Tooth is fine with everything, yay!), but I am so happy now with Pinterest, which allows me to really research ideas and keep it all together in one place: my Gettin’ Hitched board.

What I knew instantly and what my board will show you, is that I would like to have an outdoor reception, dinner and party – if the weather allows it. Sadly, we are not in Southern California, but in The Netherlands, where the weather tends to disregard the concept of “seasons”. (We’ll have to find a location with an indoor back-up option.) But I have my heart set on a relaxed atmosphere above all, outdoor or indoor. I like… lights… relaxation, chatting. An easygoing feel to it all with laughter, drinks and good (comfort) food. I have a year to figure out how to go about it. Pinterest will help for sure. So will these blogs / sites:

* Wedding Chicks
* Style Me Pretty
* Kiss the Groom
* Martha Stewart Weddings
* Ruffled
* The Pretty Blog

And more to be added as I go this year…
